7 Learning Tips of Reading

Do you ever feel confused when you are understanding text? especially a quiet long text?
or you don't have a special way to solve it??? if you don't, you will find the answer after you read the text below.
I will give some tips about how to understand the text easily.
May it'll be usefull for us.

1. Think about what you already know about a topic before you read a text about it. This allows you to relate what you read to what you already know, and it makes the new text easier to understand.

2. We always read for a purpose. Sometimes this means that we do not need to read everything in front of us in order to find te information we are looking for. We can ignore some of the text.

3. We sometimes search a text for a specific piece of information – tis could be the answer to a question or simply a particular word or words. This type of reading is called scanning. When we scan, we do not read every word. We look quickly to find what we are looking for.
Scanning may be the first step in our reading of a text. Once we have found something we are looking for, we might go on to read the next around it.

4. We usually look at the text quickly to find out what it is about. This type of reading is called skimmimg. When we skim, we get the main idea and don’t pay attention to the small details. Skimming is very often the first step in reading a text.

5. When we read a long text for the first time, we usually skim it in order to find out the general meaning and to identify the parts which we want to read in detail. The most important parts of the text are the first paragraph, which introduces the overall topic, and the first sentence of each of the other paragraphs. This sentence usually introduces the topic of the paragraph.

6. We often skim a text the first time we read it – we read it quickly to get a general sense. Alternatively, we scan a text – we read it uickly to find a particular piece of information. After a quick read, we sometimes go back and read parts of the text more carefully to find out further, more detailed information.
We can use any combination of these different reading skills to find the information we need.

7. Newspapers contain an enormous number and variety of reading texts, but most people do not read a newspaper from cover to cover. What we read depends on what we are interested in. We look at headlines, which summarize articles, and either read the article – part of it or all of it,again depending on our interest – or move on to another article.
We read selectively.
